An ingenius framework for participatory groups

Jason Diceman outlines the use of a very valuable tool for group based decision making in the Dotmocracy Handbook. This approach is a great way to ensure that amongst a large, heterogeneous group of stakeholders, everyone has an opportunity to express ideas and propose solutions on equal footing. The use of the Dotmocracy sheets in the brainstorming and feedback processes counters traditional "groupthink" traps often encountered in the conference or focus group environment where ideas gain disproportional analysis based on the rhetorical skills or prestige of the initial presenter. The incorporating the Dotmocracy sheets into a decision making process empowers participants to advocate ideas that might otherwise stay dormant. I've been using dotmocracy in smallish groups (under 25) for years, but this handbook gave me some really useful tips for how to use it more effectively in larger groups. I highly recommend it.
