Best book ever written on the horrors of Reconstruction after the War Between the States!

Claude G. Bowers is a well respected historian and a gifted writer. He meticulously documents the horrors of Reconstruction in the South after the War Between the States. This should be a standard textbook in every High School in America. Sadly, it probably has not been in fifty years or so.

Possibly the best book on Reconstruction

An excellent book documenting the horrors brought on the South by Reconstruction. I would highly recommend it to everyone. The only shortcoming of the book is that the author had bought in to the myth of Lincoln being a great man, almost a god. In fact, as is being more and more documented today by authors such as Thomas DiLorenzo in his books The Real Lincoln and Lincoln Unmasked, Lincoln was a war monger, tyrant, and a war criminal (the Constitution defines a traitor as being one who levys (makes) war against the States, and that is exactly what Lincoln did! Other excellent books that also expose Lincoln for what he really was are Lincoln Uber Alles and Lincoln's Marxists.
